We tried, but it’s just not safe for our drivers.   Since beginning the garbage collection routes this morning we’ve had two trucks get stuck and one damaged.   In the interests of driver safety, we are going to park the trucks and return to our regular collection schedule Monday, February 9.   In the meantime, we are placing containers for HOUSEHOLD WASTE at eight locations around the county. Most are already in place as of 1:30 Wednesday, February 4. These are for household garbage only. Please don’t load them with old furniture, building materials, or other rubbish.   [...]

Tate County Garbage Collection will resume Wednesday, February 4. Due to the weather that has caused the delay, any additional bagged garbage placed near the can will also be picked up this week only. Monday route will be picked up Wednesday. Tuesday route will be picked up Thursday. Wednesday and Thursday routes will be picked up Friday. Any Wednesday or Thursday cans not picked up Friday will be picked up on Saturday so please leave your cans beside the road.

January 23, 2026, in a called emergency session of the Tate County Board of Supervisors the board voted unanimously to approve a state of emergency proclamation in accordance with the one issued January 22 by Governor Tate Reeves.
