Contractors poured the footings and slab August 28 for the new satellite fire station next to Tyro Baptist Church in District Four.  On completion, this satellite station and another already planned satellite station near the District Five shop will put almost every residence in Tate County within five miles of a fire station.  Being within five miles of a fire station generally results in lower fire ratings and lower homeowner’s insurance rates.

In March 2025, the Tate County Board of Supervisors passed a public safety resolution committing to increased funding for fire service, law enforcement, and health care.  As part of this commitment, two satellite fire stations were to be built and three new pumper trucks purchased for county volunteer fire departments. One pumper truck has already been delivered, and two others are to be delivered before the end of the year.

Other projects either completed or in process under the Public Safety Resolution include the new Highland Hills Medical Clinic in partnership with Highland Hills, equipment and training upgrades for the Tate County Sheriff’s Office, and the fire training facility under construction at Shands Bottom Road and Scott Street in Senatobia.
