The Coroner is the Chief Medical Examiner Investigator for Tate County.  The coroner is responsible for investigating the circumstances of all deaths in the county, determining cause and manner of death, and filing death certificates with the State of Mississippi. The coroner orders an Autopsy when it is necessary to determine cause and or manner of death or in cases where there is evidence that a crime likely resulted in death. The coroner arranges transportation of the deceased to and from the State Medical Examiner’s office and creates scene reports for the Medical Examiner to view during the Autopsy.  The coroner also assists the family of a deceased person with transportation of their loved one to that family’s funeral home of choice.
